CRAFTING FLEXIBILITY
PROJECT                      Transformable Material | The Bartlett School of Architecture
COLLABORATORS       Zhu Lin, Anchal Shamanur
INSTRUCTORS            Enriqueta Llabres-Valls, Zachary Fluker

DESCRIPTION

Crafting flexibility is a project that aims to explore the idea of temporariness and flexibility with a material. Therefore, we explore creating flexibility using rigid and stiff materials. Technically, we transformed a rigid material into something flexible using a specific cutting pattern. Three different materials with different stiffness levels, cardboard, plywood, and acrylic, were cut in a particular pattern using the laser cutting technique. As a result, all the materials had a new level of flexibility, making it possible for them to bend in various ways without breaking.
