DESCRIPTION

In the recent decade, Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibition (MICE) Tourism is becoming one of Indonesia's tourism sectors with the highest development rate. Since 2009, Surakarta City (famously called 'Solo City') has become one of the leading destination cities for MICE tourism in Indonesia. Since 2013, it has been entitled a Design-based Creative City. Since then, the city has shown a great effort to produce various government policies that support all sorts of monthly and yearly tourism events organized and promoted collectively and effectively together by the government and society.

Parallel with this issue, Surakarta's well-known city branding, 'Solo: The Spirit of Java', is often seen as a success factor that advantages the city's promotion plan. Concluded from the list of events held in Surakarta in 2014 and 2015, the 'Festival' appears as the city's most happening kind of MICE event. Based on this condition, a brand new festival centre with great flexibility and connect-ability that comply with international safety standards is designed as an attractive solution to answer the city's future needs.
