THE LOOP
PROJECT                 Fabric Behaviour Study | The Bartlett School of Architecture
SUPERVISORS        Enriqueta Llabres-Valls, Zachary Fluker

DESCRIPTION

The Loop is a digital workflow set up of sensing and fabrication process, mediated by a hacked sewing machine. The first in operation is sensing the resulting space generated by a heat transfer process interrupted by a series of customized physical screens. Then, the second one is translating the reading of the sensing process and translating the data into digital input for the fabrication machine in the form of translation coordinates. Finally, the last operation is the fabrication process. The sewing machine produces stitches that act as a tension force at various points on the fabric surface according to the sensing data input.
